Victory Baptist Church was established in February of 1997 by pastor Jerome Hodge of Walterboro, S.C. Services were
originally held at a mobile home in the Smoaks area.
After meeting in Smoaks for about four months, the Lord opened the door to rent a building on highway 15 about five
miles north of Walterboro, S.C.
On September 21, 2001, the Lord provided the church with five acres of land on Maple Ridge Road and construction
began in 2002 on our permanent sanctuary.
The church site now has a total of eight acres and construction of the church was completed in September of 2003.
The Wednesday evening service on October 1, 2003 was the first service held in the new building.
The dedication service dedicating the facilities to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ was held on Saturday
October 4, 2003. Brother Bud Lance was the guest speaker at the dedication service.
Praise the Lord for all his blessings.

New Building
The facilities we had for fellowship became too small, so we elected to build a new fellowship building. We started a
building fund January 18, 2006. God blessed us with enough finances to open a CD account for $25,000 in the Bank of Walterboro,
another CD account in the Bank of Walterboro on May 10, 2006 in the amount of $25,000, and another CD account in the Enterprise Bank
of SC on October 18, 2006 in the amount of $25,000. In July 2007 a money market account was opened in the EBSC for $35,000.
IP Builders were contracted to build our new fellowship building and construction began on July 21, 2008.
The dedication service for the new fellowship building was held August 16, 2009. Bro. Bud Lance brought the message that day. The
special music and singing was by Samuel and Labreska Atkinson along with singing from Victory Baptist Church.
